Health Care Voucher: Elderly eye care service for reduce risk of fall
Since 2012, Government Health Care Voucher scheme has covered eye care services provided by registered optometrists. Elders aged 65 or above who hold valid Hong Kong Identity Card or Certificate of Exemption are eligible to use vouchers for eye examination service and making eyeglasses.
Vision problem is one of the major causes of elderly fall. Elderly should have regular eye examination to ensure the health and performance of their eyes.
In order to promote usage of Health Care Voucher for private health care service, such as preventive and prophylactic treatment or management of vision problems, the bill for eyeglasses can be paid by Health Care Voucher, after the eye examination done by qualified optometrist.
Our centres are appointed Health Care Service Providers of Health Care Voucher Scheme. Eligible Elderly may use Health Care Voucher for payment of eye examination and eyeglasses fee. For more information, you may contact us by telephone number 21530008 for eye examination booking.
1. Vision and refraction assessment
To check the vision (low vision) and refraction (shortsightedness, longsightedness and presbyopia) status of elderly. By finding out the problems at early stage and providing appropriate management such as eyeglasses, we would like to reduce the risk of elderly fall.
2. Ocular health assessment
To check the eyelids, cornea, cataract, central retina, macula, glaucoma and diabetes eye problems (diabetes retinopathy). We will base on individual situation to apply pupil dilation eye drops for peripheral retinal examination. If needed, we will refer patient to appropriate specialists.
3. Bespoke eyeglasses service
To ensure the function, safety and appearance of elderly eyeglasses, we will have bespoke optical dispensing service to cater needs of each elderly.
